Abstract (English): The article analyzes the scientific production of undergraduate students in nine student medical journals in Latin America during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was found that 13% of the published articles were about COVID-19 and had student authorship. Most of these articles were published in Spanish, and Cuba had the highest contribution. The most common types of publication were editorials and topic reviews. The valuable contribution of students to scientific production is highlighted, which poses a challenge for universities in the region to promote research training and scientific communication. [Extracted from the article]
