Abstract (English): Environmental sanitation is one of the necessary conditions to prevent the spread of diseases, including intestinal parasites. The objective of the study was based on describing the environmental sanitation characteristics of several parishes in the Pajan canton. For the research, a non-experimental, prospective, descriptive and cross-sectional design was used, where a survey was carried out on 351 parents from different parishes of the Pajan canton in the province of Manabí, Ecuador. The results show that 67.24% of individuals consume river or well water, 67.81% do not do any type of treatment prior to consumption. Regarding excreta disposal, 90.03% do so through latrines or septic tanks, and 75.78% dispose of garbage through other means (they throw it away in the patio of the house or burn it) different to the collection truck. It is concluded that in the communities studied they have deficiencies in environmental sanitation, which influence as risk factors for intestinal parasites in individuals from the Pajan canton.
