Abstract (English): The objective of this study was to describe the role of the nurse in humanized birth based on the available literature. The analysis of the selected publications allowed the construction of two thematic categories, namely: 1) Training the nursing team to carry out a more humanized birth; and 2) Importance of the father or companion in labor, women's rights and respect for the individuality of each parturient. The nursing professional plays a very important role during reception and labor, because as he is a professional who spends most of his time in contact with the patient, he is able to better understand the wants, desires and fears of the patient. woman during labor.
