Abstract (English): The article "Comparative analysis of apical extrusion of debris provided by different manual instrumentation techniques" published in the journal Dental Press Endodontics compares the amount of debris extruded apically by two manual instrumentation techniques. The study involved the analysis of 30 permanent lower central incisors, distributed in two groups, and concluded that the technique with cervical preparation burs and stainless steel files resulted in greater extrusion of debris than the technique with nickel-titanium M files. The research was conducted by authors from the South American College in Goiânia, Brazil. [Extracted from the article]
Abstract (Portuguese): Introdução: A etapa de instrumentação no tratamento endodôntico está associada à extrusão de detritos para o periápice, a qual pode acarretar sintomatologia pós-operatória e retardo no reparo apical. Objetivo: O presente estudo teve por objetivo realizar uma análise comparativa da extrusão apical de detritos propiciada por duas diferentes técnicas de instrumentação manual. Métodos: Foram selecionados 30 incisivos centrais inferiores permanentes, distribuídos aleatoriamente em dois grupos (n=15) de acordo com a técnica utilizada: (T1) instrumentação manual com brocas de preparo cervical e limas de aço inox e (T2) instrumentação manual com limas M de níquel-titânio. Os detritos extruídos foram coletados em tubos, pesados antes e após a instrumentação. Três pesos consecutivos foram obtidos para cada tubo e a média foi calculada. Resultados: Os dados foram analisados por meio do teste t, sendo considerados significativos valores de p < 0,05. Ambas as técnicas causaram extrusão apical de detritos, sendo maior no grupo T1 (0,0011) do que no T2 (0,0002), com diferença estatisticamente significativa. Conclusão: A técnica de instrumentação manual com brocas de preparo cervical e limas de aço inox apresentou maior extrusão apical de detritos do que a técnica de instrumentação manual com limas M.
