Abstract (English): Lung disease is common in medical practice, and lung ultrasound findings have an excellent correlation with other diagnostic modalities like computed tomography of the chest. It is essential for healthcare staff to be aware of these abnormalities. Bedside ultrasound in pulmonology allows appropriate detection of the interstitial involvement typical of conditions like pulmonary edema, consolidation syndrome (whose prime example is pneumonia), and even diaphragmatic ultrasound that can be useful in different settings ranging from the outpatient department to intensive care units. Below, we present a narrative review of the use of bedside ultrasound in the field of pulmonology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): La patología pulmonar es frecuente en la consulta médica y los hallazgos en ecografía pulmonar tiene una excelente correlación con otras modalidades diagnósticas como la tomografía computada de tórax. El conocimiento de estas alteraciones por parte del personal asistencial es fundamental. La ecografía a la cabecera del paciente en el área de neumología permite la adecuada detección del compromiso intersticial típico de entidades como el edema pulmonar, el síndrome de consolidación cuyo exponente principal es la neumonía e inclusive el uso de ecografía diafragmática que puede ser útil en distintos escenarios que van desde la consulta externa hasta las unidades de cuidado intensivo. A continuación, presentamos una revisión narrativa sobre el uso de ecografía a la cabecera del paciente en el área de neumología. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
