| Abstract (English): | Introduction: Cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide, has increased in incidence and prevalence, and remains a major challenge for health systems in all countries. Psychologically, the diagnosis triggers a variety of negative emotions, although it can also lead to positive and adaptive responses influenced by available psychosocial resources. Gratitude emerges as a key factor in this context, with potential to expand the emotional and cognitive resources of the actors involved. Despite this, the relationship between gratitude and cancer has not been examined from bibliometrics to date. Objective: this study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of gratitude and its relationship with cancer. Methods: A comprehensive bibliometric analysis was employed using Scopus as a data source, revealing 158 papers published between 1991 and 2024. Results: Scientific production has experienced an annual growth of 4.66%, with the United States leading in both production and impact. Journals such as Cancer Nursing and Psycho-Oncology stand out in the publication of papers on this subject. Likewise, the most cited studies focus on the spiritual needs of patients and the relationship between gratitude and social support. International collaboration is notable, with the United States and Italy leading research in this area. Conclusion: The findings reveal the growing importance of gratitude in the context of cancer and highlight key areas for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Introducción: El cáncer es una enfermedad devastadora que afecta a millones de personas en todo el mundo, la misma ha incrementado su incidencia y prevalencia, por lo que sigue siendo un desafío fundamental para los sistemas de salud de todos los países. Psicológicamente, el diagnóstico desencadena una variedad de emociones negativas, aunque también puede llevar a respuestas positivas y adaptativas influenciadas por los recursos psicosociales disponibles. La gratitud emerge como un factor clave en este contexto, con potencial para ampliar los recursos emocionales y cognitivos de los actores involucrados. A pesar de esto, la relación entre gratitud y cáncer no ha sido examinada desde la bibliometría hasta la fecha. Objetivo: este estudio se propuso realizar un análisis bibliométrico sobre la gratitud y su relación con el cáncer. Método: Se empleó un análisis bibliométrico exhaustivo utilizando Scopus como fuente de datos, revelando 158 documentos publicados entre 1991 y 2024. Resultados: La producción científica ha experimentado un crecimiento anual del 4.66%, con Estados Unidos liderando tanto en producción como en impacto. Revistas como Cancer Nursing y Psycho-Oncology destacan en la publicación de documentos sobre esta temática. Asimismo, los estudios más citados se centran en las necesidades espirituales de los pacientes y en la relación entre gratitud y apoyo social. La colaboración internacional es notable, con Estados Unidos e Italia liderando la investigación en esta área.
