Abstract (English): Sexual and reproductive rights have had to go through turbulent paths throughout history and there have been many people who have died in the fight for these, not only in Mexico, but around the world. It is important to take a moment to reflect to see where we stand, since this has an impact on different areas of our daily lives such as family planning, the economy or individual rights. Although we are in the 21st century, it is incomprehensible how violations of sexual and reproductive rights continue to exist in different vulnerable populations, despite being such basic, intrinsic and fundamental rights for every human being. In recent years, in our country, there have been modifications in our laws to protect these individual rights. The obstetrician-gynecologist has the responsibility of ensuring and fighting for these rights to be respected in each of our women, regardless of their age, socioeconomic status, disability or the ethnic group from which they come. It is our duty to raise our voice before government agencies, that is, to apply the advocacy that has been conferred on us, so that these are protected in codes, laws, decrees and other jurisdictional provisions. The objective of this work is to communicate to the reader the current panorama regarding sexual and reproductive rights, in order to reflect on the areas of opportunity that exist around this issue and to be able to exert a positive impact on our society.
