Abstract (English): Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurological development condition, characterized by difficulties in communication, social interaction and repetitive behaviors. It can occur together with other disorders and lacks specific treatments for its core symptoms, posing a clinical challenge. Revealing new therapies, such as the potential of medicinal plants, emerges as a promising avenue of research. Objective: Explore the impact of medicinal plants in modulating sensory alterations in individuals diagnosed with ASD. Methodology: The review followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewer's Manual, and the Arksey and O'Malley framework for scoping reviews. A search was conducted in Scopus, ScienceDirect and PubMed using standardized DeCS/MeSH terms with Boolean operators. The quality of the studies was assessed with Risk of Bias and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Results: Of 1296 records reviewed, 20 duplicates were removed, leaving 1276 for analysis. After careful screening, 1232 records were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria. Finally, 8 studies were considered eligible. The results revealed several interventions, such as herbs in nasal drops, sulforaphane, polyherbal compounds, cannabinoids and decoctions, with variable doses and forms of administration according to the patient's needs, showing significant improvements in symptoms associated with ASD. Conclusion: Medicinal plants show potential to improve symptoms such as irritability and repetitive behaviors in people with ASD, but more research is needed in clinical trials to better understand their effectiveness. Abstract (Spanish): Introducción: El trastorno del espectro autista (TEA) es una compleja condición del desarrollo neurológico, caracterizada por dificultades en la comunicación, interacción social y comportamientos repetitivos. Puede presentarse junto con otros trastornos y carece de tratamientos específicos para sus síntomas nucleares, planteando un desafío clínico. Revelar nuevas terapias, como el potencial de las plantas medicinales, surge como una vía prometedora de investigación. Objetivo: Explorar el impacto de las plantas medicinales en la modulación de las alteraciones sensoriales en individuos diagnosticados con TEA. Metodología: la revisión siguió las directrices PRISMA-ScR, Manual del Revisor del Instituto Joanna Briggs y el marco de revisiones de alcance de Arksey y O'Malley. Se llevó a cabo una búsqueda en Scopus, ScienceDirect y PubMed utilizando términos normalizados DeCS/MeSH con operadores booleanos. La calidad de los estudios se evaluó con Risk of Bias y la Escala Newcastle-Ottawa. Resultados: De 1296 registros revisados, 20 duplicados fueron eliminados, dejando 1276 para análisis. Tras una selección minuciosa, 1232 registros fueron excluidos por no cumplir con los criterios de inclusión. Finalmente, 8 estudios estuvieron considerados elegibles. Los resultados revelaron varias intervenciones, como hierbas en gotas nasales, sulforafano, compuestos poliherbales, cannabinoides y decocciones, con dosis y formas de administración variables según las necesidades del paciente, mostrando mejoras significativas en síntomas asociados al TEA. Conclusión: Las plantas medicinales muestran potencial para mejorar síntomas como irritabilidad y conductas repetitivas en personas con TEA, pero se necesita más investigación en ensayos clínicos para entender mejor su eficacia.
