| Abstract (English): | OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality of professional life of medical personnel in undergraduate and postgraduate training in a second-level care unit of the IMSS Mexico City. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted on undergraduate and postgraduate residents in family medicine, emergency medicine, and internal medicine at the General Hospital of Zone 8 with a Family Medicine Unit of the Mexican Institute of Social Security. The questionnaire used was the Calidad de Vida Profesional 35 (CVP 35). RESULTS: A total of 141 residents were studied, with a mean age of 26.6 years, a median of 26 years, and a mode of 23 years. The standard deviation was 3.6 years, with a minimum of 22 years and a maximum of 40 years. In the section on CVP instrument 35: quality of professional life, an average of 6.6 points was observed, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10 points. The sections "workload" had an average of 6.9, the section "management support" an average of 4.59 and the section "intrinsic motivation" an average of 6.22. CONCLUSIONS: Physicians-in-training work long hours and have little time for activities other than medicine. Therefore, if we want quality health care and professionals who are willing to give their best, consideration of their own quality of life must play an essential role. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
