| Abstract (English): | The 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics was jointly awarded to John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton "for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks". Here we try to explain the meaning of this statement and why we consider their contribution to be an important advance for Physics.
