| Abstract (English): | Landscape immunity must be maintained to prevent the spread of pathogens when terrestrial ecosystems are disturbed. The objective of this review is a call to attention to the authorities responsible for preserving the great tropical forests. If we continue destroying these natural spaces, we run the risk that wildlife that has not been in contact with humans, through various mechanisms, will jump and produce infections (zoonosis) that could spread among the population and increase mortality from this cause, as has been observed a few decades ago with the Ebola virus, Zika, coronavirus, etc. This phenomenon is related to climate change, environmental pollution, etc. It is important that experts in different disciplines share ideas, apply a holistic vision to the problem and transfer the conclusions to legislators so that they can implement measures at the local level, such as avoiding deforestation, land use change, etc., since the consequences reverberate worldwide. | Abstract (Spanish): | La inmunidad de paisaje se ha de mantener para evitar la dispersión de agentes patógenos cuando se alteran los ecosistemas terrestres. El objetivo de esta revisión es una llamada de atención a las autoridades responsables de preservar las grandes selvas tropicales. Si seguimos destruyendo estos espacios naturales corremos el riesgo de que la fauna que no ha estado en contacto con el ser humano, a través de diversos mecanismos, salte y produzca infecciones (zoonosis) que podrían extenderse entre la población y aumentar la mortalidad por esta causa, como se viene observando hace unas décadas con el virus del Ébola, del Zika, coronavirus, etc. Este fenómeno está relacionado con el cambio climático, la contaminación ambiental, etc. Es importante que expertos en distintas disciplinas hagan puestas en común, apliquen una visión holística al problema y trasladen las conclusiones a los legisladores para que implementen medidas a nivel local, como evitar la deforestación, cambio del uso del suelo, etc., ya que las consecuencias repercuten a nivel mundial.
