Abstract (English): BACKGROUND: Skin tumors are the most common neoplasms in the world, with a high incidence in Latin America due to increased sun exposure habits. Analyzing the published literature related to this disease in the region is essential to recognize the pattern of scientific production, the most relevant topics, and scientific advancements. OBJECTIVES: To identify and evaluate research trends related to skin cancer in Latin America by a bibliometric analysis. METHODOLOGY: A search was conducted in Scopus to identify scientific documents published between 2010 and 2022. There were included articles that met the inclusion criteria in terms of scientific production, authors, and institutions. RESULTS: A total of 2133 articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected and analyzed. A gradual increase in scientific production in skin cancer research was observed in Latin America, with Brazil being the country with the most contributions and most important authors. The most frequent keywords were related to the type of cancer and inclusion criteria. CONCLUSIONS: This article allows us to understand the importance of research in the field of dermatology, promote collaboration among researchers, and facilitate informed decision-making. This analysis is crucial for improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of skin cancer in Latin America, and contributes to the generation of scientific knowledge in this area. Abstract (Spanish): ANTECEDENTES: Los tumores de piel son la neoplasia más común en el mundo, con alta incidencia en América Latina, debido al aumento en los hábitos de exposición solar. El análisis de la bibliografía publicada en relación con esta enfermedad en la región es decisivo para reconocer el patrón de producción científica, los temas más relevantes y los avances científicos. OBJETIVOS: Identificar y evaluar las tendencias de investigación relacionada con el cáncer de piel en América Latina a través de un análisis bibliométrico. METODOLOGÍA: Búsqueda en Scopus para identificar documentos científicos publicados entre 2010 y 2022. Se seleccionaron los artículos que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión y se analizaron en términos de producción científica, autores e instituciones. RESULTADOS: Se seleccionaron 2133 artículos. Se observó un aumento gradual en la producción científica en cáncer de piel en América Latina. Brasil fue el país con más contribuciones y autores más importantes. Las palabras clave más frecuentes se relacionaron con el tipo de cáncer y los criterios de inclusión. CONCLUSIONES: Este artículo permite conocer la importancia de la investigación en este campo de la dermatología, fomentar la colaboración entre investigadores y facilitar la toma de decisiones informadas. Este análisis es decisivo para mejorar la prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento del cáncer de piel en Latinoamérica y contribuye a la generación de conocimiento científico en esta área.
