Abstract (English): The article focuses on a structuralist film analysis of the movie "Being There" (1970) by Hal Ashby, which is an adaptation of the novel by Jerzy N. Kosinski. The work narrates the life of a man with intellectual disabilities who, despite his limitations, manages to rise in the social and economic hierarchy of the United States, allowing for a poetic critique of contemporary society and the American dream. Through an approach that combines elements of literary and cinematic narrative, the study explores how the film reflects social constructions and prejudices towards people with disabilities, highlighting the lack of genuine understanding of these conditions in Western culture.
