| Abstract (English): | The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has uniquely affected the pediatric population, with an incidence below 3% but exposing children to a wide range of complications, including Long COVID and Multisystemic Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C). Global health agencies have issued recommendations to prevent these complications, which remain concerning the virus continues to circulate and is far from eradication. METHODS: A narrative review on SARS-CoV-2 infection in pediatric population from 2020 to 2025 was performed using PubMed, Scielo, Elsevier and Google Scholar. Keywords included SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, pediatrics, vaccination, Long COVID, MIS-C. From 268 bibliographic sources identified, 60 were selected after excluding those containing repetitive information, without open access, opinions pieces, and letters to the editor. RESULTS: This paper presents updated information on COVID-19 in the pediatric population as of March 31, 2025, including protective measures and recommendations that have been made to protect this population. CONCLUSION: This article integrates the expertise of Mexican specialists in pediatric infectious diseases, epidemiology, pediatric immunology, internal medicine, vaccinology, and clinical microbiology, with international guidelines to provide vaccination providers in Mexico with a comprehensive guide for pediatric COVID-19 immunization.
