Abstract (English): Fibromyalgia is a very complex disease due to the multitude of factors that intervene in its appearance and progression, and its most characteristic symptom is generalized pain. In this essay, we expose some neuropsycoimmunologycal alterations related to “pain” in patients with fibromyalgia, the subjective experience of pain in these patients and alexithymia as a frequently associated trait. A neuropsychoanalytic axis is proposed for the analysis and monitoring of patients who suffer from chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, given that pain is directly related to the nervous system, but its subjective aspect can be studied from the point of view of psychoanalysis. Starting from the fact that neuropsychoanalysis is a brain-mind integrative model, this essay aims to integrate the brain-mind-body relationship to approach understanding the meaning of chronic pain in patients with fibromyalgia.
