Abstract (English): Fibromyalgia is a very complex disease due to the multitude of factors that intervene in its appearance and progression, and its most characteristic symptom is generalized pain. In this essay, we expose some neuropsycoimmunologycal alterations related to “pain” in patients with fibromyalgia, the subjective experience of pain in these patients and alexithymia as a frequently associated trait. A neuropsychoanalytic axis is proposed for the analysis and monitoring of patients who suffer from chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, given that pain is directly related to the nervous system, but its subjective aspect can be studied from the point of view of psychoanalysis. Starting from the fact that neuropsychoanalysis is a brain-mind integrative model, this essay aims to integrate the brain-mind-body relationship to approach understanding the meaning of chronic pain in patients with fibromyalgia. Abstract (Spanish): La fibromialgia es una afección compleja debido a la multitud de factores que intervienen en su inicio y progresión. Su síntoma definitorio es el dolor generalizado. En este ensayo se analizan las alteraciones neuropsicoinmunológicas relacionadas con el dolor en pacientes con fibromialgia, su experiencia subjetiva del dolor y la alexitimia como rasgo frecuentemente asociado. Para el análisis y acompañamiento de pacientes con dolor crónico por fibromialgia se propone un eje neuropsicoanalítico. Si bien la experiencia dolorosa está directamente relacionada con el sistema nervioso, su aspecto subjetivo puede estudiarse desde el punto de vista del psicoanálisis. Puesto que el neuropsicoanálisis es un modelo integrativo cerebro-mente, en este ensayo se pretende integrar la relación cerebro-mente-cuerpo para acercarnos al entendimiento del significado del dolor crónico en pacientes con fibromialgia.
