| Abstract (English): |
The mongolian spot is the most common pigmented lesion in newborns. It presents as a blue-gray, bluegreen, or brown macule with ill-defined borders that does not blanch with pressure. It appears at birth or within the first weeks of life and gradually fades over time. When the lesion appears in atypical locations, it is referred to as an aberrant Mongolian spot. We present a case of a female neonate whit a blue-gray hyperpigmented macular lesion with indistinct borders, extensively involving the buttocks, back, shoulders, and extremities. The pigmentation was mostly homogeneous, except on the lateral aspect of the left gluteal region, the lumbosacral junction, and the right scapular area, where superimposed darker macules of varying sizes were noted. Although the Mongolian spot is not associated with skin cancer, it should not always be considered a benign finding. In certain cases, it may be linked to congenital metabolic disorders.
