Abstract (English): Alveolitis is a common complication after tooth extractions, especially of third molars, characterized by the disintegration of the blood clot and intense pain. Platelet- Rich Fibrin (PRF), a second-generation autologous blood concentrate that does not require chemical additives, has been indicated for the treatment and prevention of this condition. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the role of PRF in the management of alveolitis, highlighting its benefits in accelerating healing, relieving pain, and preventing this postoperative complication. Methodology: A literature review was conducted by searching for articles in databases such as PubMed, LILACS, SciELO, and Google Scholar. The descriptors used were: "Platelet-Rich Fibrin," "alveolitis," and "blood concentrates." The selected studies addressed the efficacy of PRF in this context. Conclusion: PRF demonstrated effectiveness in reducing the incidence of alveolitis, relieving pain, and accelerating the healing process. Furthermore, it presents a superior safety profile and a favorable cost-benefit ratio compared to other therapies. Therefore, PRF constitutes a promising, safe, and biocompatible therapeutic option for the management of alveolitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
