Abstract (English): Objective: To determine the explanatory percentage of life satisfaction on active aging in older adults from Chetumal, Quintana Roo (Mexico). Methodology: This was a correlational-explanatory study. A total of 130 older adults participated, a sample size determined using the G Power® program and selected through convenience sampling. A data form, the Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Active Aging Scale were applied. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for analysis, including Pearson's correlation, Student's t-test, and a simple linear regression model. Results: The mean age of participants was 69.31 years. The majority were women (55.4%), had an education level below primary school (55.4%), were single (57.7%), and engaged in physical activity (56.9%). Additionally, most lived with a family member (91.5%) and had at least one chronic disease (66.2%). A difference in means was found for life satisfaction and active aging, with women scoring higher (p < 0.05). A relationship was also found between active aging, hours of physical activity, and life satisfaction (p < 0.05). Ultimately, life satisfaction explained 47.4% of active aging. Conclusion: Life satisfaction explains active aging in older adults from this area of Quintana Roo (Mexico). It is necessary to address this group from a behavioral perspective to prevent loss of functionality. It is recommended to design interventions suited to their physical, cognitive, and social characteristics, as these will promote better aging without complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
