Abstract (English): Objective. To analyze the trend of disability associated with bullying in school-aged adolescents (10 to 14 years and 15 to 19 years) between 1990 and 2021, at the level of federal entity and based on the Sociodemographic Index (SDI), with the purpose of informing and strengthening prevention strategies within the framework of public health. Materials and methods. An ecological study comparing the burden of Disability-Associated Life Years (YLD) due to anxiety and major depressive disorders attributed to bullying in adolescent women and men in Mexico from 1990 to 2021. Results. Bullying is a growing phenomenon in the adolescent population. Among adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 years old, the rate of disability due to bullying rose 48% from 140 (54.1-295.2) in 1990 to 208 (83-428.8) in 2021; while in men it grew from 92 (36.2-179.6) to 123 (51.9-239.7), equivalent to 34%. Conclusion. Bullying has been understudied and unrecognized due to the lack of a surveillance system. This study presents evidence of its relevance as a growing public health problem among school-aged adolescents in Mexico. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Objetivo. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
