| Abstract (English): | Introduction: The right to protection is recognized in the Mexican Constitution, and the current health scheme, the Model of Health Care for Well-Being (MAS-Bienestar). However, there are structural, geographic, and sociocultural challenges that impact the health of indigenous populations living in marginalized, and economically disadvantaged communities. Objective: Explore te perceotions and health neds o mothers and community health promoters in Mazahua communities. Materials and methods: An exploratory qualitative study was designed based on the development of focus groups of adult women from Villa Victoria, Mexico. The investigation team included trained moderators, facilitators, transcribers and observers. Perceptions were grouped into five dimensions of access based on the Penchansky and Thomas model, adapted to the health field, and then compared with MAS-Bienestar to identify the gap in the reality of participating women. Results: Twenty-four Mazahua women participated in this study. When contrasting the dimensions of health, structural, and economic barriers that impede effective access to services, women expressed having lived bad experiences in childbirth and healthcare, demonstrating large gaps between what is expected in the MAS-Bienestar and the reality of women. Conclusions: The results show that healthcare providers do not meet their real needs. It is essential to establish community dialogue that allows transform policies and move towards equitable, humane, and culturally relevant health systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Introducción: En México, el derecho a la protección de la salud está reconocido en la Constitución y se promueve mediante el Modelo de Atención a la Salud para el Bienestar (MAS-Bienestar). No obstante, persisten barreras estructurales, geográficas y socioculturales que afectan a comunidades indígenas, marginadas y económicamente desfavorecidas. Objetivo: Explorar las percepciones y necesidads en salud de madres y promotoras comunictarias Mazahuas. Materiales y métodos: Se diseñó un estudio cualitativo exploratorio basado en el desarrollo de grupos focales con mujeres adultas de Villa Victoria, Estado de México. El equipo de investigación incluyó moderadores, observadores y transcriptores capacitados. Se analizaron las percepciones en torno a cinco dimensiones del acceso con base en el modelo de Penchansky y Thomas, adaptándolo al área de la salud y comparándolas con el MAS-Bienestar para identificar la brecha existente en la realidad de las mujeres participantes. Resultados: Participaron 24 mujeres, quienes señalaron barreras estructurales y económicas que dificultan el acceso efectivo a los servicios. Relataron malas experiencias durante el parto y la atención de enfermedades, demostrando grandes brechas al contrastar lo esperado en el MAS-Bienestar y la realidad en la que viven las mujeres. Conclusiones: Los resultados muestran que la atención en salud no cubre en su totalidad las necesidades reales. Es indispensable establecer un diálogo comunitario que permita transformar las políticas y avanzar hacia un sistema de salud equitativo, humano y culturalmente pertinente. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
