Abstract (English): Objective. To identify the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi by the IIF technique in cattle from three regions of Colombia, classify the vector and confirm the presence of spirochetes in FSP of cattle and ticks. Methods. For the study, blood samples were taken from the coccygeal vein of 58 bovines from the municipalities of Silvania Cundinamarca and the municipalities of Guavatá and San Vicente de Chucurí Santander, to carry out the immunological test in serum, as well as the search for spirochetes in FSP from bovine and tick hemolymph by Wright's stain. Results. A high seropositivity was obtained in the animals studied, the vector by morphometric characteristics was classified in the genus Rhipicephalus microplus, of the Ixodidae family, the tick with the highest incidence in Colombia and through special colorations the presence of spirochetes was evidenced in the samples of bovine blood and tick hemolymph. Conclusion. The country does not have studies of this nature, which is worrying since it is known that this bacterium is involved in the production of spontaneous abortions in cattle and can be transmitted as a zoonosis by consumption of unpasteurized milk and by exposure to the sting of its vector. Abstract (Spanish): Objetivo.
