| Abstract (English): | OBJECTIVE: To determine if there is a significant difference between the Dermatological Life Quality Index (DLQI) of patients with a diagnosis of psoriasis treated with etanercept, adalimumab and methotrexate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Observational, comparative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, performed from November 1st, 2022 to January 1st, 2023. The DLQI score was compared in patients older than 18 years of age with a diagnosis of psoriasis treated with adalimumab, etanercept, and methotrexate. Data distribution and comparison between groups were performed with the Shapiro-Wilk and Mann-Whitney U tests. A value of p < 0.05 was considered a statistically significant difference. RESULTS: A representative sample of 34 patients was taken and distributed into three main groups according to the treatment administered: etanercept (n = 7), adalimumab (n = 18), and methotrexate (n = 9). The DLQI score obtained in the three groups studied was: etanercept (median = 3 points), adalimumab (median = 1 point), and methotrexate (median = 3 points). The results showed a significantly lower DLQI score in patients treated with adalimumab compared to etanercept. No statistically significant differences were found between the scores of methotrexate and both biologicals. CONCLUSIONS: Among biological drugs, patients treated with adalimumab achieve lower DLQI scores; however, etanercept and adalimumab did not prove to be superior to methotrexate in improving quality of life. | Abstract (Spanish): | OBJETIVO: Determinar si existe diferencia significativa entre el puntaje del Índice de Calidad de Vida Dermatológica (DLQI) de pacientes con diagnóstico de psoriasis tratados con etanercept, adalimumab y metotrexato. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Estudio observacional, comparativo, descriptivo y transversal, efectuado del 1 de noviembre de 2022 al 1 de enero de 2023, en el que se comparó el puntaje de DLQI en pacientes de 18 años o más con diagnóstico de psoriasis en tratamiento con adalimumab, etanercept y metotrexato. La distribución de los datos y la comparación entre grupos se hizo con las pruebas de Shapiro-Wilk y U de Mann-Whitney. Un valor de p menor de 0.05 se consideró diferencia estadísticamente significativa. RESULTADOS: Se tomó una muestra representativa de 34 pacientes que se distribuyeron en tres grupos principales según el tratamiento administrado: etanercept (n = 7), adalimumab (n = 18) y metrotexato (n = 9). El puntaje obtenido de DLQI en los tres grupos estudiados fue: etanercept (mediana = 3 puntos), adalimumab (mediana = 1 punto) y metotrexato (mediana = 3 puntos). Los resultados mostraron un puntaje de DLQI significativamente menor en los pacientes tratados con adalimumab en comparación con etanercept. No se hallaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los puntajes de metotrexato y ambos biológicos. CONCLUSIONES: Entre fármacos biológicos, los pacientes tratados con adalimumab alcanzaron puntajes de DLQI más bajos; sin embargo, etanercept y adalimumab no demostraron ser superiores al metotrexato en la mejoría de la calidad de vida.
