| Abstract (English): | This review examines the corrosive behavior of low-carbon steel in the presence of sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) and analogous environments, highlighting the importance of this material and the aggressiveness of the disinfectant. The central objective is to identify the most relevant corrosion mechanisms and the factors that influence their development. A comprehensive search of scientific databases was conducted, focusing on recent studies analyzing the corrosion of low-carbon steel in NaClO solutions, considering variables such as pH, temperature, and disinfectant concentration. The results reveal that sodium hypochlorite exhibits a high corrosive capacity compared to other chlorinated disinfectants, manifested through generalized and localized corrosion. Factors such as non-metallic inclusions on the steel surface and the hydrodynamic conditions of the medium play a significant role. Furthermore, the influence of the environmental surroundings, such as the presence of atmospheric pollutants, is a crucial aspect to consider. It was identified that ozonated water could be a less aggressive alternative in certain applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
