Abstract (English): Introduction. Several studies recognize that the effort-reward imbalance has a significant impact on the job performance of healthcare personnel. Objective. To conduct an integrative review to describe the relationship between effort-reward and burnout syndrome in the healthcare sector between 2018 and 2024. Method. A search for information was conducted in the BioMed Central, Emerald Insight, Epistemonikos, Medline, ProQuest, Pubmed, Redalyc, SciELO, Science Direct, Scopus, and Springer Link databases. Twenty-two articles were selected, most of which (90.9%) used quantitative, descriptive methodology with correlational analysis. The most studied professions were doctors (30.4%), followed by nurses (21.7%). Conclusion. Younger men are more likely to develop professional burnout. Likewise, women were at greater risk of emotional exhaustion and excessive commitment. Finally, healthcare professionals with a greater effort-reward imbalance are at greater risk of developing burnout syndrome [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Introducción. Diversos estudios reconocen que el desequilibrio esfuerzo-recompensa tiene un impacto importante en el desempeño laboral del personal sanitario. Objetivo. Realizar una revisión integrativa para describir la relación entre esfuerzo-recompensa y síndrome de burnout en el sector salud entre 2018 y 2024. Metodo. Se realizó la búsqueda de información en las bases de datos BioMed Central, Emerald Insight, Epistemonikos, Medline, ProQuest, Pubmed, Redalyc, SciELO, Science Direct, Scopus y Springer Link. Se eligieron 22 artículos, la mayoría (90.9%) de ellos emplearon metodología cuantitativa, de tipo descriptivo, con análisis correlacional, las profesiones más estudiadas fueron médicos (30,4%), seguidos de enfermeras (21,7%). Conclusión. Los hombres más jóvenes tienen mayor probabilidad de desarrollar desgaste profesional. Así mismo, las mujeres presentaron más riesgo de agotamiento emocional y exceso de compromiso. Finalmente, los profesionales de la salud con mayor desbalance esfuerzo-recompensa tienen mayor riesgo de desarrollar síndrome de burnout. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
