Abstract (English): Epilepsy, like most diseases, has undergone changes in its concepts and terminology over time. It is important for all healthcare professionals who treat patients with this condition to stay updated on these terms. This Guide is designed to recall the practical clinical definition of epilepsy published in 2014 and to review the classifications in force in 2026, in accordance with what is established by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). Abstract (Spanish): La epilepsia, como la gran mayoría de enfermedades, ha presentado a lo largo de los años cambios en sus conceptos y terminología. Para todo el personal de salud que aborda paciente con esta enfermedad, es importante actualizarse en estos términos. Esta guía esta elaborada para recordar la definición clínica práctica de la epilepsia publicada en el 2014 y para revisar las clasificaciones vigentes en el 2026, de acuerdo con lo que establece la Liga internacional contra la epilepsia (ILAE).
