| Abstract (English): | The article focuses on experimentally evaluating the effectiveness of hats and caps for facial protection against ultraviolet (UV) radiation in Ica, Peru. Twenty garments were analyzed, divided into caps, sun hats, and farmer hats, finding that the latter, with wide brims, offered the greatest UV protection, especially in areas such as the nose, lips, and neck, and during hours of maximum solar radiation. Although caps are the most commonly used, they showed lower protective capacity. The study acknowledges limitations due to the use of a static mannequin and specific regional conditions, and concludes that the use of hats should be complemented with other preventive measures to reduce skin damage from UV radiation.
