Abstract (English): The article focuses on the evolution and use of double-lumen tubes for lung isolation in anesthesia during thoracic surgery. It describes how these devices, from their experimental beginnings in the 20th century to the modern PVC and silicone tubes, allow selective ventilation of one lung, facilitating surgical exposure and protecting the contralateral lung. Advances such as the incorporation of fiberoptic bronchoscopy to verify placement, the development of tubes with integrated cameras for robotic surgery, and improvements in connectors that simplify lung isolation are highlighted. Currently, double-lumen tubes are considered the gold standard in thoracic surgery due to their safety and effectiveness. [Extracted from the article]
[Extracted from the article]
