| Abstract (English): | The scientific and technological advances have been surprising, more in the two last decades, but they don't go united with to the ethical values of the medical professional practice, it has been totally escaped, specially when the biological subsistence, the maintenance of the life through apparatuses and the mechanisms that prolong the existence are who undergoes an alteration that until recently time was mortal shortly lapse. It is common listening that exist a crisis in the medical profession, but what really is it of human values, which as soon and taken into nowadays, actually professional account, which gives rise to a dehumanization towards the life, the health, the disease, the suffering and the death. The ideal of the doctor to give to service to the man in its life and health, as well to be conscious that the last biological process that must fulfill is the death, and when it appears, does not have considered as a actually professional failure. It has protect to the patient as the extreme cruelty therapeutic, that it has right a worthy death. It's taking to the birth of the hospital ethics committees, they have like function to analyze, to advise and to think about the ethical dilemmas that appear actually clinical or in the biomedical investigation. In 1982 in the UEA only 1% of its hospitals had a ethics committees; by 1988, it was 67% and the 100% in 2000. In Mexico the process of the formation by these committees begins, only in the Military Central Hospital, to count the ethics committee on 1983, also the Hospital no. 14 of the IMSS in Guadalajara, it works with regularity from 1995, with internal teaching of bioethic. The Secretariat of Health has asked the formation of the bioethical committees in each hospital, and order the it was be coordinated by the National Committee of Bioética. The integration of these committees is indispensable that their members have the knowledge necessary of bioética. The Mexican Society of Ortopedia, conscious of the responsibility that will have these Committees, presents/displays the following article, with the bioética commit and the support to this in other hospitable units. | Abstract (Spanish): | Los avances científicos y tecnológicos han sido sorprendentes, en especial en las dos últimas décadas, pero no van unidos a los valores éticos de la práctica profesional médica, y han sido totalmente rebasados, especialmente cuando se trata de la subsistencia biológica y el mantenimiento de la vida a través de aparatos y mecanismos que prolongan la existencia de una persona que sufre una alteración que hasta hace poco tiempo era mortal en breve lapso. Actualmente es común escuchar que hay una crisis en la profesión médica, pero lo que realmente existe es una crisis de valores humanos, los cuales son apenas tomados en cuenta hoy en día en la práctica profesional, lo que da lugar a una deshumanización hacia la vida, la salud, la enfermedad, el sufrimiento y la muerte. Esto impide cumplir el ideal del médico de dar servicio al hombre en su vida y salud, así como estar consciente de que el último proceso biológico que debe cumplir es la muerte, y la cual, cuando se presenta, no debe considerarse como un fracaso en la práctica profesional. Tampoco debe subordenar el médico su conciencia y sus valores éticos conforme a la inercia de una civilización deshumanizada. La necesidad de proteger al paciente contra el ensañamiento terapéutico, de tener derecho a una muerte digna, lleva al nacimiento de los comités hospitalarios de ética, que tienen como función analizar, aconsejar y opinar sobre los dilemas éticos que se presentan en la práctica clínica o en la investigación biomédica. En EUA, en 1982, ese país contaba con 1% de sus hospitales con comités; en 1988, era 67% y en el año 2000, el 100% contaba con un comité hospitalario de ética. En México apenas se inicia el proceso para la formación de dichos comités, pero el Hospital Central Militar afirma contar con un Comité Hospitalario de Ética, fundado en 1983, también el Hospital No. 14 del IMSS en Guadalajara, que funciona con regularidad desde 1995, los cuales alternan sus funciones consultivas y normativas con la docencia interna de bioética. La Secretaría de Salud ha solicitado la formación de los comités de bioética en cada unidad hospitalaria, los cuales serán coordinados por el Comité Nacional de Bioética. Para la integración de estos comités es indispensable que sus miembros tengan los conocimientos necesarios de bioética para cumplir necesariamente su función. La Sociedad Mexicana de Ortopedia, consciente de la enorme responsabilidad que tendrán estos comités, presenta el siguiente artículo, para que se conozcan las funciones de los comités de bioética y, de ser necesario, se forme uno en nuestra Sociedad que permita el apoyo a los comités respectivos de las diversas unidades hospitalarias.
