| Abstract (English): | It was determined the prevalence of intestinal parasitesis and the mere frequent parasite species in inhabitants of Pira-Pira. This is a descriptive, cross sectional study The population was 300 people and the sample 102 patients. A socioepidemiologic survey was applied. Coprologic methods used were: direct examination with physiologic solution, Lugol staining and stool ten centration; 51% were men, 22.82 ± 17.82 years old, 36.3% did not use shoes regularly, 62.7% obtained water from underground well, 59.4% consumed water without any previous treatment, 74 5% dispose stool in a septic well and 70.6% poured served waters to the floor. Intestinal parasitosis prevalence was 43.1%, being the most frequent pretezoa Blastocystis hominis (27 3%), Giardia lamblia (227%) and Entamoeba hystolitica (20.5%). The direct stool examination method with physiologic solution and Lugol staining provided the highest positive results. It is recommended to establish campaigns of sanitary education, to reinforce health attendance to this community and to promote better life and health conditions in this community [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Se determinó la prevalencia de parasitosis intestinales, y las especies de parásitos más frecuentes en el caserío Pira-Pira. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal. La población fue de 300 personas y la muestra de 102. Se aplicó una encuesta socioepidemiológica. Métodos coprológicos: directo con solución salina y Lugol y de concentración. Los hombres constituyeron el 51% de la muestra, de 22,82 ± 17,82 años de edad; 36,3% no usaba calzado regularmente, 62,7% obtenían el agua de pozo subterráneo, 59,4% la consumían sin tratamiento previo, 74.5% disponían las excretas en pozo séptico y 70,6% vertían las agues servidas al suelo. La prevalencia de parasitosis fue 43,1% siendo los protozoarios más frecuentes Blastocystis hominis (27,3%), Giardia lamblia (22,7%) y Entamoeba hystolitica (20,5%). El método directo con solución fisiológica y Lugol fueron los que arrojaron mayores resultados positivos. Se recomienda instaurar campañas de educación sanitaria, reforzar la asistencia a esta comunidad y propiciar mejores condiciones de vida y salud en la población estudiada. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
