| Abstract (English): | The existence of multiresistent bacteria in the hospital and community environment has become a public health issue worldwide. At the present time, a bacterial strain can develop multiple resistance mechanisms to almost all available antibiotics. Likewise, an antibiotic can be inactivated by different mechanisms and bacterial strains. We present the fatal case of a inmunodeficient patient that during hospitalization acquires a severe bacterial infection. The isolated strain was Acinetobacter baumannii. The antibiogram showed resistance to multiple wide spectrum antibiotics. We describe the most common resistance mechanisms with emphasis in the blaOXA-23 clone chromosomally encoded. Finally we describe general recommendations and universal methods of control and prevention of resistance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
