Abstract (English): Objective: To estimate ovarian cancer incidence and prevalence in Aragon, based on mortality and survival data from the period 1998-2008, and to provide projections of incidence, prevalence and mortality until the year 2022. Material and methodology: All-cause and ovarian-cancer mortality rates were obtained from the National Statistics Institute and survival data were obtained from the EUROCARE study. Estimations were carded out using the MIAMOD program. The Joinpoint program was used to quantify the expected annual change in the projections. Results: An decrease in the incidence rate is expected in women from, this going from 18.6 (Adjusted Rate - AR = 9.2) per 100,000 inhabitants/year to 14.26 (AR = 6.83). Prevalence would decrease from 205.99 (AR = 51.62) to 168.03 (AR = 59.57), and mortality would decrease from 9.2 (AR = 6.02) to 6.83 (AR = 3.98) cases per 100.000 inhabitants/year. Conclusion: The projections indicate that ovarian cancer in Aragon follows an decreasing trend in incidence, mortality and prevalence. This needs to be considered in order to analyze the causes related to plan prevention and treatment that could have a positive effect on it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
