The article presents information on the first meeting of the Associació de Comares de Valencia, an association of midwives from Valencia, Spain, which was held in 2010 in conjunction with the Federación de Asociaciones de Matronas de España (FAME, the Federation of Midwife Associations of Spain). Topics discussed at the conference included menopause as a public health issue, the importance of a preventative attitude, and the relationship between breastfeeding and attachment.
