| Abstract (English): | Systematic in the pelvic examination in women with pelvic organ prolapse. Data collection form and completion Aim: To describe and analyse the feasibility of a systematic in the pelvic examination in women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) to determine: the degree and type of POP, the involuntary leakage of urine with efforts, the residual urine (RU) volume and the function of the pelvic floor muscles (PFM). Material and methods: The pelvic examination included: classification POP (Baden-Walker and POP-Q), the assessment of the sign stress urinary incontinence (SUI) with women in different positions and with and without reducing POP, measuring the RU by urethral catheterization and by 2D ultrasound, and the assessment of tone and the voluntary contraction of the PFM. Results: 345 women with severe POP on the waiting list for surgery in 39 Gynaecology centres (GISPEM GROUP) were included. Determination of RU by 2D ultrasound is feasible within routine pelvic examination performed in Gynaecology clinics. We found a high completion of the information about the function of the PFM and a very low completion of the section that refers to the classification of the degree of POP using the POP- Q. Conclusion: The methodology used for the pelvic examination in this study, follows a systematic that allows very quickly to meet all key objectives for the evaluation of a women with symptoms of POP. | Abstract (Spanish): | Objetivo: Describir y analizar la viabilidad de una sistemática de exploración pélvica de la mujer con prolapso de órganos pélvicos (POP) para determinar: el grado y tipo de POP, si existen escapes involuntarios de orina con los esfuerzos, el volumen de orina residual (OR) y la función de los músculos del suelo pélvico (MSP). Material y métodos: La exploración pélvica incluía la clasificación del POP (clasificación de Baden-Walker y método POP-Q); la evaluación de la presencia o ausencia del signo incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo (IUE) con la mujer en distintas posiciones (con y sin reducción de POP); la medición de la OR (con sonda y mediante ecografía 2D), y la valoración del tono y la capacidad contráctil de los MSP. Resultados: Se incluyeron 345 mujeres con POP en lista de espera para cirugía procedentes de 39 centros de ginecología (grupo GISPEM). La determinación de OR mediante ecografía 2D es factible dentro de la sistemática de exploración pélvica de las mujeres con POP en las consultas de ginecología. Destaca la alta cumplimentación del apartado de valoración de la función de los MSP y la baja cumplimentación del apartado referente a la clasificación del grado de POP utilizando el POP-Q. Conclusión: La metodología empleada para la exploración pélvica en este estudio sigue una sistemática q ue permite, en muy poco tiempo, cumplir todos los objetivos fundamentales para la valoración de una mujer con síntomas de POP.
