Abstract: The article reports on the inquiry of basketball fan Hsiu-Chen Kuei on whether the race of player Jeremy Lin, an American-born son of immigrants from Taiwan, has led to bias by referees. It discusses the video made by Kuei which shows Lin being whacked in the face, clotheslined, bleeding and tumbling into the floor. Kuei argues that Lin was a victim of excessive physicality from opponents and insufficient protection from the National Basketball Association (NBA) and its referees.
