Abstract: This article discusses the stock options of Dr. William McGuire, CEO of United Health Group Inc. A report by the legal firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr alleges backdating of stock options. It suggests that some options were reissued in 1999 while others were reactivated later, more than doubling the value of the benefits. McGuire resigned and will reportedly leave by December 1, 2006.
