| Abstract: | Sydney all-grrl rockers Nitocris will celebrate their ARIA nomination with a gig tonight at Newcastle University with Melburnian group Dern Rutlidge and American band Nebula. Nitocris' self-titled album has been short-listed in the best independent release category. Melbourne cut-and-paste merchants The Avalanches have topped the ARIA pile with nine nominations, followed by Brisbane band Powderfinger with eight then Victorian trio Something For Kate and pop queen Kylie Minogue with six apiece. The ARIAs will be presented at Sydney's Capitol Theatre on October 3. |
