Title: If the shoe fits
Authors: Michelle Griffin
Source: Age, The (Melbourne). 09/06/2008.
Abstract: These shoes were made for walking. Well, they are shoes after all. Kinda goes with the territory, really. But sometimes some shoes tread previously untrod ground, as is the case here. The usually mass-produced sneaker, with a stinkier fair-trade reputation than a teenage boy's gym sock, has just got an injection of handmade cool, thanks to Emma Greenwood. Using traditional skills and techniques Emma has made the kickingest kicks this sneaker freaker has seen for some time. Perhaps it's their little apple but I think they look good enough to eat. Or lick. Emma worked on her beauties at the Craft Victoria exhibition, In the Making, showing us how it's done and it was pretty amazing. There were copious cups of tea drunk and a small amount of solvent sniffing (I hear it's unavoidable). This crafty girl and her shoes are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. Now, you don't need to worry about whether the shoe is going to fit, you can get them made to order. All you have to do is decide who it is you will be walking all over.
