| Description: | Big Data Analytics (BDA) are an upcoming way to create innovation. Much improvement and innovation have been made in the field of BDA in various industries. But, for the healthcare industry it is not clear how BDA enable innovation in services. This research answers the question ‘how BDA enable Service Innovation in healthcare'. This is done with a process- oriented view. A research framework is found in literature that is tested for its relations. The research framework describes two propositions: ‘BDA technology has a positive influence on automation of processes'and ‘automation of processes have a positive influence on service innovation'. By using a qualitative research approach with multiple cases these propositions are tested and explained. Results show that the first proposition is rejected and the second proposition is accepted. Possible explanation is found within extra (exploratory) research which suggests that separation for different healthcare processes is required, because in healthcare these different processes have a major role. Consequently, this research suggests that ‘type of processes'needs to be added to the research model to get a better insight into how service innovation is enabled with BDA. |
