Abstract: The authors discuss mental health promotion and its underlying importance to prevention of chronic diseases and overall health promotion. The authors compare World Health Organization (WHO) definitions of mental health and mental illness, while noting WHO's definition of health, in total. The authors also discuss a so-called two-continuum model of mental health and mental illness.
