| Abstract: | The article focuses on research into the impact iceberg calving has on glacier motion. It states that calving at the Helheim Glacier in Greenland resulted in a minutes-long reversal of the horizontal flow of the glacier with a downward deflection of the glacier's terminus. It reports that a hydrodynamic pressure drop behind the capsizing iceberg caused the downward motion and an upward force on the Earth which is the source of glacial earthquakes. |
