| Abstract (English): | Aim: To identify the effects of exposure to acute social stress on the performance of selective attention in college students. Method: This quasi-experimental study approach designed with repeated measurements was conducted with a sample of 57 young college people (men and women) aged between 16-20, belonging to first and second semester, in three private universities in the city of Bogotá. Results: Significant differences corresponding to the relationship between variables such as (p.00) systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure (p.00), heart rate, (p.04), Perceived Stress Scale (p.00) and the Faces Test (p.00), between the pre experimental phase and later in the further conditions of acute social stress inoculation. Conclusions: It is suggested that conditions of acute social stress can foster performance in tasks related to attentional processes in the studied population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
