Abstract: The article discusses the assumption that mental disorders are overlooked when studying transport worker behavior and that commercial driver mental health problems may have grave ramifications for personal and public safety. It examines how U.S. long-haul truckers' chronic and immediate work strains influence their overall mental health especially during traumatic life events and aims to provide information to implement policies designed the harmful effects of trucking on driver mental health.
