| Abstract: | The current study investigates the interrelationships of work experiences such as justice perceptions and organisational rewards, perceived organisational support and organisational citizenship behaviour. The sample consisted of 482 employees drawn from a large multinational telecommunications company. The results of the present study indicate that work experiences such as justice perceptions and organisational rewards are related to the performance of citizenship behaviours through the mediating effects of perceived organisational support. Perceived organisational support was found to fully mediate the relationship between organisational rewards and organisational citizenship behaviour, while perceived organisational support was found to partially mediate the relationship between justice perceptions and organisational citizenship behaviour. Implications of results from the current study for organisations are that specific practices and policies can be implemented in order to promote employee perceptions of being a valued member in the organisation. This in turn may facilitate citizenship behaviours, which ultimately aids the effectiveness of the organisation. Future research may benefit from more development of theory on organisational citizenship behaviour so that its measurement and analysis can become more consistent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
