Abstract: The article discusses whether participants in pediatric studies enrolled by their parents or guardians in a study should be recontacted for their consent to remain in the study when they attain the age of majority, to satisfy the ethical and legal norms of consent for research. Topics discussed include legal and policy landscape in relation to age of consent for research participation and clinical care, and research contexts like longitudinal pediatric studies and pediatric clinical trials.
