Abstract: The article discusses a research article stating that de novo–designed eight-stranded transmembrane beta barrels fold spontaneously and reversibly into synthetic lipid membranes. It mentions that combination of purely geometric models and explicit Rosetta protein structure simulations was used to determine the constraints that beta strand connectivity and membrane embedding place on the transmembrane-beta barrels architecture.
