Abstract: The article investigates the sensitivity of the Goodenough to the incoordination involved in using the non-dominant hand. The 40 subjects were all patients at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. They ranged in age from 4 years, 5 months to 13 years, mean 9 years, 5 months. Each subject was able to take the test sitting and had normal upper extremities and vision. It is apparent that the child who draws a man with a non!dominant hand produces fewer details and also gains fewer points for coordination. This test seemed to underestimate the mental age one would otherwise obtain if only the non- dominant hand is available to the child at the time of testing.
