| Abstract: | This article details a study which has compared a Psycholinguistic Quotient, estimated by Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities (ITPA), with the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)-R verbal, performance and full-scale intelligence quotients (IQs) of developmentally disabled children. Subjects of this study were 40 consecutive referrals to the Child Evaluation Center, University of Louisville School of Medicine who met age criteria for administration of the WISC-R and ITPA subtests. There were 26 boys and 14 girls who ranged in age from 6 years-3 months to 13 years-2 months, with a mean age of 9 years-1 month. The comparability of the estimated Psycholinguistic Quotient and the WISC-R Full Scale IQ also was seen in the very similar mean scores on these two measures for the 40 children. |
