Abstract: Chaku et al. (2022) implemented a cross-validated latent profile analysis and identified four different profiles of EF (i.e., average EF, high EF, low EF, and low inhibitory control). (a) There is a multiplicity of EF processes from infancy on; (b) EF and effortful control seem to overlap completely, while SR seems to be a partly separable construct. Obradovi'c et al. (2022) demonstrated the value of using an assessor report of SR behaviors in addition to EF tasks, when studying early childhood experiences and development in a rural lower-middle-income country setting. They replicated extant findings such that mothers' EF predicts children's EF, and extend these findings by identifying the additive role of fathers' EF, similar in magnitude to the role of mothers' EF.
