Abstract: The article focuses on the potential impacts of ocean-based climate interventions (OBCIs) on deep-sea ecosystems. Topics include discussion on various OBCIs including carbon sequestration, ocean fertilization, ocean alkalinity enhancement, direct injection of liquid CO2 in deep water, and ocean-based technologies for renewable energy; and governance challenges and the need for an integrated research framework to centralize the consideration of deep-sea impacts in mitigation planning.
